School Improvement Plan 2016-19
Dear Parents and Carers
Please find attached our School Improvement Plan 2016-19, which sets out our vision, mission and objectives for the next three years.
The Plan continues to build on the ambitious vision we have for our young people; that all pupils, regardless of background, can benefit from a first-class education. It takes account of the four national priority areas for change, which provide a shared focus for all staff to work together to make that vision a reality:
- Improvement in attainment, particularly in literacy and numeracy;
- Closing the attainment gap between the most and least disadvantaged children;
- Improvement in young people’s health and wellbeing;
- Improvement in employability skills and sustained, positive school leaver destinations for all young people;
The Plan outlines our strategy for creating a ‘virtuous cycle of improvement’ which delivers excellence and equity in all aspects of our work.
The Plan acknowledges the importance the 6 key drivers of improvement identified in the National Improvement Framework if we are to deliver the improvements we want to see for all young people.
- School leadership
- Teacher professionalism
- Parental engagement
- Assessment of children’s progress
- School improvement
- Performance information
In prioritising our work for the next three years we will focus on those areas where we believe we can make the strongest contribution, drawing on existing good practice.
As part of the process of developing this Plan, we have been consulting widely among our stakeholders. This consultation process has taken account of the Transition surveys with pupils, parents, and staff, face to face dialogue with focus groups, and round table discussions at key events including the Parent Council, Friends of St. Ninian’s, and Faith Discussion occasions.
We have also consulted with young people. Our aim being to listen to their views and I have been delighted with the quality of discussion and positive feedback based on their educational experiences
I would value your comments on the Plan.
