Modern Languages Awards
Joseph Mullanney Award
This award which is given every year in memory of our former teacher, Joseph Mullanney, has this year been awarded to our recently graduated sixth year pupil, Maria Ward for her excellent effort and work in class and her overall commitment to the Modern Languages department. With her award Maria was presented with a cheque to spend on studying materials.
Monsignor Monaghan Award
This is the inaugural year for this award and has been set up in honour of Monsignor Monaghan in recognition of his dedication and devotion to St Ninian’s High School – its staff and pupils alike.
As part of this award the nominated pupil will be given a cheque for them to use towards the cost of a minimum two week language course in a country of their choice and the pupil must also be committed to further education in languages.
The school is delighted to announce that this year the Monsignor Monaghan Award is being given to Ciara Doohan, another of our recently graduated sixth year pupils, who has not only excelled in her own linguistic development but has demonstrated an outstanding level of commitment to the Modern Languages department throughout her six years as a pupil.
Our congratulations and thanks to both Ciara and Maria who have been exceptional pupils and have served the school in many aspects, including as Eucharistic Ministers – we wish you both every success in the future.
