Inaugural Mass
Thank you to everyone who managed to come along to the Inaugural Mass last night.
Thank you to Monsignor Monaghan and Father Hill and for celebrating Mass with us. Thank you to Monsignor his inspiring homily.
As always, the Music department provided beautiful liturgical music.
We had the opportunity last night to thank Liz Swainson for her work as she prepares for retirement. Below I have posted a short paragraph of thanks which was included in our Mass Booklet.
‘Tonight marks the final whole school religious event in which Mrs. Swainson will lead our musicians and singers. She will retire in October. I want to thank her for the outstanding service offered to our young people, parents, teacher colleagues, and school staff. Her dedication to the teaching of young people has offered an inspiring example to teachers who have worked with her over many years of service to education, both in St. Ninian’s and ERC. She has shared her passion for music with pupils and colleagues promoting excellence across the Performing Arts with a deep desire for her students to achieve the very best they were capable of. This excellence has been evident for all to experience if you have had the privilege and pleasure of attending our many school musical evenings and shows. Her passion and devotion for the Arts has inspired many of her students to continue the study of music and drama beyond school and to achieve great success in Scotland and beyond. On your behalf, I offer our best wishes to Mrs. Swainson for many years of happiness and health, enjoying time with Tony, her husband, and with her children, Cairistiona and Cailean, both former students of Saint Ninian’s’.
Thank you to all of the altar servers, readers and staff who helped organise this joyful evening and to our cantor Rebekah Holmes who sang beautifully throughout.
Our Head Girl, Eva Marie Curran spoke on behalf of the school at last night’s Mass of Welcome.
Eva Marie conveyed in her address the central tenets of our priorities which are love, kindness and true generosity of spirit drawing from our vision and values which shapes our ethos and identity as a catholic school – after all, there is no point having these values if they don’t inform every aspect of who we are.
