Hong Kong Yan Chai Hospital Wong Wha San Secondary School visit
On Tuesday 11 October, a group of pupils and teachers from Hong Kong Yan Chai Hospital Wong Wha San Secondary School visited St Ninian’s. Mr Docherty warmly welcomed them into the school. They were given a tour of the school by Mr Kerr, visiting all the different departments before coming to the Confucius Classroom to speak to pupils who are currently studying Mandarin. Together, they learned a Chinese dance ‘Xiao Pingguo’ , and sang both Chinese and Scottish songs. The Hong Kong pupils performed their newly learned traditional song, “Scotland the Brave” on their bagpipes. Their musical ability was particularly impressive and they were enthusiastically listened to by a large group of students from various year groups. Everyone enjoyed the visit and it promoted understanding and cultural awareness. We hope to reciprocate their kind visit at some point in the future.
