East Renfrewshire Schools Commonwealth Legacy Concert
Many of our talented musicians will be performing at the prestigious Glasgow Royal Concert Hall tonight. The Symphony Orchestra will play an interesting and varied programme including Malcolm Arnold’s Tam O’Shanter Overture however of particular interest will be the World Premiere of a new composition by former St Ninian’s pupil Lewis Murphy. Having recently graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with First Class Honours, he is now continuing his studies in composition at the Royal College of Music in London.
Lewis’ music has been performed in the UK and abroad by highly esteemed ensembles and soloists such as Red Note Ensemble, Ensemble l’Itinéraire, Orkest de Ereprijs and Richard Craig. Upcoming projects include a song cycle based on Fairy Tales in collaboration with poet/soprano Laura Attridge and the brand new arts collective, ‘And So Forth’ Productions. Our pupils tell us the rehearsals have been exciting and they are really looking forward to performing such a vibrant and interesting composition.
