Edinburgh International Book Festival (part 2)
A second trip to the Edinburgh International Book Festival took place on Wednesday 20th August. Pupils were attending two events this time.
The day started at “Aye, Naw, Mibbie” run by the Scottish Youth Parliament about political engagement and young people and the referendum. The pupils then had a chance to have a look around the fantastic book shops before going to see authors Anne Cassidy and Alan Gibbons talking about “ How far can you take teen fiction?”. Alan was talking about his book Hate based on the true story of Sophie Lancaster and Anne was talking about Looking for JJ inspired in some part by the Jamie Bulger case. The talks from both authors were fascinating, thought provoking and hugely inspiring.
