Supported Study Term 2
Please see below details of the supported study programmes we will be offering to our pupils in preparation for our prelim examinations which commence in January for our S4 pupils, and in February for pupils in S5 and S6.
All pupils have been provided with details of the programmes relevant to them. These details are also available here, on our school website. Individual departments will inform students of their supported study arrangements and will target those pupils who would benefit most from this support.
It is important to recognise that Supported Study is just one aspect which underpins pupil learning in St. Ninian’s. Teaching staff make themselves available on an informal basis before school, at lunchtimes and at the end of school day to assist our pupils and I know that our pupils very much appreciate this support. Departments have also been allocated additional teaching staff which allows them to set-up extra sections and also provide group/individual support for pupils. We will also be running our Easter School Camp, the schedule for which will be issued at the start of March.
Our S4 pupils have already received their full reports and will have attended their parents’ evening last week. Through this process parents will now be aware where their child requires additional support. Supported study offers the perfect opportunity to receive that support and I would, firstly urge our pupils to attend, and secondly to target the subjects where this support is most needed.
Our S5 and S6 students will receive their full reports on 17 January 2014, with their Parents’ Evening on Thursday 30 January. This, again, will highlight the areas where supported study will make a difference for our senior students.
We commend these programmes for our pupils, please contact Mr MacDonald at the school if you require further information about supported study or Easter school.
