Weekly Prayers
Monday 26 November 2018.
As our weather turns colder, it is important that we think and pray for those who live in poverty with little money or food and sometime no home. We are fortunate enough to have these and most of the time we take them for granted and forget about those who do not have what we have.
Today we remember all these people in our prayers because there are many people in desperate situations. As well as praying, we can help by donating to charities, food banks and simple giving money to people begging on the streets.
We pray for all in need and for ourselves that we will be generous to those in need.

On November 27th in 1830, Saint Catherine Labouré saw a vision of the Blessed Mother where she displayed herself inside an oval frame, standing upon a globe, and from her hands shone rays of light over the globe. Mary told Catherine that this image should be put on gold medallions and that all who wear one them will receive great graces. The medallions became known as the Miraculous Medal or the Medal of the Immaculate Conception and those who wear it with faith and devotion believe it can bring special graces through the intercession of Mary.

Today is the Feast Day of Saint Catherine Labouré.
Three times in 1830 the Virgin Mary appeared to St. Catherine Labouré. Catherine stated that on the eve of the feast of St. Vincent 1830, she woke up after hearing the voice of a child calling her to the chapel, where she heard the Virgin Mary say to her, “God wishes to charge you with a mission. You will be contradicted, but do not fear; you will have the grace to do what is necessary. Tell your spiritual director all that passes within you.”

God, I know You love me and have great plans for me. But sometimes I am overwhelmed by the thought of my future. Show me how to walk forward one day at a time.
Let us pray
May I take heart while I search openly, learn about all the choices, listen to others for advice, and pay attention to my own feelings. By doing these things, may I hear your call to a lifestyle and a career that will let me love as only I can, and let me serve others with the special gifts that You have given me.

The Church celebrates the feast of Saint Andrew on November 30, an important date in the annual liturgical calendar, because it determines the date of the First Sunday of Advent, which is the Sunday nearest this Feast. Saint Andrew is the patron saint fishermen, and of both Scotland and Russia.
St. Andrew was a native of Bethsaida in Galilee, a fisherman by trade, and a former disciple of John the Baptist. He was the one who introduced his brother Peter to Jesus, saying, “We have found the Messiah.”
Overshadowed henceforth by his brother, Andrew nevertheless appears again in the Gospels as introducing souls to Christ.
After Pentecost, Andrew took up the apostolate on a much wider scale, and is said to have been martyred at Patras in southern Greece on a cross which was in the form of an “X”. This type of cross has long been known as “St. Andrew’s Cross”.
