Weekly Prayers

Monday 29 October 2018.

Prayer is simply talking to God.  It is focusing our thoughts and minds on him.  When you talk to someone you turn and face them and look at them.  You give them your attention.  You look at them and they look at you.  Prayer is turning towards God.  Prayer brings you closer to God because there is just the two of you talking together.

Today we pray that God will give us the wisdom, intelligence and the understanding to see in our lives His call to each one of us to answer our vocation.  We pray especially for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

Let us pray:

O gracious and Holy Father, Give us wisdom to see you,

Intelligence to understand you, Diligence to seek you,

Patience to wait for you, Eyes to behold you,

A heart to meditate upon you, and a life to proclaim you,

Through the power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

Tuesday 30 October 2018.

 A Prayer for Vocations.

God, the source of creation and love,
You invite each of us to serve you through the life which is your gift.
May your grace encourage men and women to heights
of holiness through service to the church as priests, sisters, brothers, and lay ministers.

Make me an instrument to encourage others to give of themselves and challenge me to do the same.

Hail Mary………..

Wednesday 31 October 2018.

Father in Heaven, You made me Your child and called me to walk in the Light of Christ.
Free me from darkness and keep me in the Light of Your Truth.
The Light of Jesus has scattered the darkness of hatred and sin.
Called to that Light, I ask for Your guidance.
Form my life in Your Truth, my heart in Your Love.
Through the Holy Eucharist, give me the power of Your Grace
that I may walk in the Light of Jesus  and serve Him faithfully. Amen.

Hail Mary….

Thursday 1 November 2018.

This is the Solemnity of All Saints and is a major feast in the Catholic Liturgical Year. The saints whom we know like St Andrew, St Patrick and St Therese all have a particular day set as their feast day when we remember and honour them. However, each and every person who is with God is Heaven is a saint even if they are not well known. Indeed, most saints will not be known to us but will have lived everyday, good and ordinary lives. It is these people whom we honour today and they may well include our friends and relatives, people in our parish and our local community who are now in Heaven.

However, this feast reminds us that we are called to be saints, not just in the future but to live good and holy lives each day and look forward to our reward in eternity.

We ask Mary our Mother, to help us live good lives each day.

Hail Mary………..

Friday 2 November 2018.

Today is All Soul’s day, when we pray for the souls of all Christians who have passed away.

Together, we will pray for the souls of the faithful departed

“For all our departed brothers and sisters
Merciful Father,
hear our prayer
and console us.
As we renew
our faith in Your Son,
whom You raised from the dead,
strengthen our hope
that all our departed brothers and sisters
will share in His resurrection,
who lives and reigns
with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen”

Hail Mary….
