National Digital Learning Week 2018

National Digital Learning Week (#NDLW18) is an annual Education Scotland event where all schools in Scotland are encouraged to take part in digital learning and teaching activities.

This post will share how digital technology is being used to enhance learning and teaching in St Ninian’s High School and will be updated throughout this week.

Physical Education

S3 pupils using their own devices to have their performance recorded to allow them to evaluate their strengths and areas for development.

Computing

The S1 classes have been learning how to design and create their own website for their own Video Game Company.

S2 have been busy learning how to solve problems in programming by creating a voting system for “Scotland’s Got Talent”.

S3 pupils have been using Microsoft Access and SQL to design and create relational database to store and use data efficiently.

Drama

S3 pupils have been using https://xtlearn.net/NLN this week.  This is an interactive educational website that allows pupils to complete short units of work and then assess themselves with an online quiz. We used the website as a class to learn about the role of the props master for our National 4/5 drama course.

Chemistry

S2 Chemistry pupils have had homework set, submitted and reviewed via Microsoft Teams this week.

Design and Technology

Pupils using Autodesk Inventor to model their coat hooks before making them in the workshop and pupils using Google Sketch up to model buildings for their futuristic city.
