Certificate in Cycle Mechanics (City & Guilds Entry Level 3) SCQF Level 3:
We are delighted to announce the success of our young people involved in the City & Guilds Cycle Mechanics course which is delivered by colleagues at Neilston Trust as part of our Schools Vocational Programme.
The course offers an introduction to cycle maintenance and complete units involving:
- Removing and replacing cycle components
- Cleaning and lubricating cycle components
- Cleaning & preparing a cycle for use
- Repairing a puncture
- Carrying out a systematic cycle check
- Building and Trueing a cycle wheel
- Preparing frames and forks for cycle assembly
- Augmenting a cycle
- Servicing cycle headset assemblies
- Changing a cycle frame
The focus of the course is skills development but can also assist in securing employment in cycle tourism or cycle maintenance. It also provides a real insight into a world of sustainable travel and employment. One of our graduates from a previous programme secured an apprenticeship in the cycle industry.
Well done to Jay, Kai and Sam on their success. Richly deserved.
