The Periodic Table of Reading
Dear Teacher,
As you may know the school library runs a Summer Reading Challenge for all pupils in the current S1 and S2. The aim of the scheme it to keep pupils reading over the holiday period and to avoid what’s known as “the summer slide”. This year will be – “The Periodic Table of Reading”. This will be launched during library periods in June and ends at the beginning of September; where there will be a prize giving for all participating.
If you could highlight this opportunity to the many parents who ask about their child’s personal reading it would be greatly appreciated. I would also like to take this opportunity to remind staff that I offer a provision whereby all pupils can obtain a personalised reading list based on their preferences and this might work well in tandem with the summer scheme.
