Weekly Prayers

Monday 16 April 2018.

Today is our first day back after our Easter Break and our Church continues to celebrate the Great Feast of Easter. We often use the term ‘The Easter People’ to express our belief that through the resurrection of Jesus we are saved. Listen carefully to this prayer :

We are often not the Easter People
that we should be,
living in the certain knowledge
of your great mercy and love.
Distracted by the world around us
we fail to hear your voice,
or hide when faith is challenged
as we wander off the path.
Forgive us, we pray;
restore the love that we first had,
a faith that can endure.
We will keep our eyes fixed on you, Lord,
and with you at our right hand
we shall not be shaken.

Today, we pray that we will respond in hope and confidence to God’s Call and in particular, we pray for those called to the priesthood and religious life.

We ask Mary, our Mother, to join with our prayers.

Hail Mary….

Tuesday 17 April 2018.

Our prayers today ask God to help us follow our vocation.

God, I know you love us and have great plans for all of us. But sometimes we are overwhelmed by the thought of the future. Show us how to walk forward one day at a time.

May we take heart while we search and learn about all the choices, while we listen to others for advice, and while we pay attention to our feelings. By doing these things, may we hear your call to a lifestyle and a career that will let us love and serve others by using the special gifts that you have given us.  Amen.

Let us say a Hail Mary as we look to the future. …

Hail Mary….

Wednesday 18 April 2018.

Let us give thanks today for the many gifts and talents that God has given us. May we make the best use of them to enrich our lives and the lives of those around us.

Let us pray-

God of love, we give you thanks for the boundless mercies of our daily life. Make us more grateful for your many gifts:

For the blessing of health

For the comforts of home and family life,

For the joys of friendship

For the beauty of the world around us

Teach us day by day to count our blessings and to receive them as from our Father’s hand; and fill our hearts with gratitude and our lips with praise, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord.

God our Father, we thank you for all the bright things in life. Help us to see them, and to count them, and to remember them, that our lives may flow in never ending praise through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Now let us pray together ……

Our Father…

Thursday 19 April 2018.

 Father,
Sometimes I feel bewildered by the world.
I don’t understand how there can be such richness beside such poverty.
Help me to be generous and thoughtful of others.
I feel upset when I hear others cruel words or see hatred or prejudice.
Help me to be loving and accepting of all I meet.
Sometimes I feel down about the pressure on young people to succeed.
Lord, in this confusing world
Help me to look to you
And stay hopeful and happy.
Amen.

Our Father…….

Friday 20 April 2018.

Our S4-S6 pupils will soon begin their study leave. Let us pray for them, that they use this time wisely and prepare well for their final exams. Let us also pray for all the students of St Ninian’s; that they continue to use the talents gifted to them by God for his glory.

Holy Spirit, Giver of all good gifts, enter into my mind and heart. Give me the gift of knowledge and the grace to use it wisely. Help me in all my endeavours. Give me perseverance and fortitude. Help my memory, that I may remember what I learn and recall it when necessary. Guide me in the classroom. You who are the Way, the Truth, and the Life, let me not be deceived by false teaching. Our Lady of Good Studies, pray for me. Amen.

Hail Mary…
