Well done Anna.

Indiana Jones. What a classic. It’s got crazy Nazis, snake infested pits, rolling traps boulder , everything you could ask for. Harrison Ford is your whip wielding hero, outsmarting the bad guys at every turn. The Raiders of the Lost Ark is an amazing film to watch with family or friends.

One of my favourite things about this movie is that it’s different from every other of its kind. Almost every action and adventure movie with a male lead has a strong, handsome man who is somehow different from everyone else around him, but Indiana Jones isn’t like that. Yes, Harrison Ford is certainly strong and handsome, but he’s also an archaeologist, determined to find historical artefacts to give to museums to be studied and learned about. Every other movie you’ll watch is about saving the world in outrageously unfounded ways, while the Indiana Jones films reference history, if a bit loosely.

Another thing I loved was the character of Marion Ravenwood, played by the incredible Karen Allen. She’s a hard drinking, fast thinking, independent woman who can stand up for herself like nobody’s business. I think she’s the kind of strong female character that film should be seeing a lot more of.

This movie has an old fashioned finish to it that makes you feel like you’re watching a treasure from the past, and just the right amount of classic action that you aren’t left sleeping in your seat, and you don’t have explosions going off left right and centre until you go cross eyed, which is quite an impressive feat.

Overall, The Raiders of the Lost Ark is an amazing movie that really shows the highest level of twentieth century film making. I seriously recommend you watch it, and soon.
