Law Society of Scotland’s ‘Donald Dewar Memorial Debating tournament’
Pupils from schools across Scotland were competing in the semi-finals of the Law Society of Scotland’s ‘Donald Dewar Memorial Debating tournament’ last night. Michael McGrade and Holly Edgar were representing St Ninian’s at Douglas Academy in Milngavie and presented a powerful opposition to the motion that ‘it is regretful that social media is the primary source of news distribution’.
Both Michael and Holly worked incredibly hard to draw together the most compelling evidence in their case, delivering well-structured and highly convincing speeches on the night and tackling the proposition’s counter-arguments confidently.
Although Michael and Holly will not proceed to the next round, we wish them the very best of luck in future debates.
