Vehicle Idling Enforcement
We would just like to notify parents/carers that we have received an email message from Claire Reid (Senior Environmental Health Officer, East Renfrewshire Council).
The email reads:
I just wanted to let you know that myself and a colleague from East Renfrewshire Council’s Environmental Health team visited the area outside the school/Eastwood Leisure Centre today at school home-time. During our visit we spoke to 48 drivers who were allowing their vehicle engine to idle. All of the drivers that we spoke to agreed to turn off their engines.
Please be reminded that when collecting pupils from school that if drivers do not turn off their engine when asked to by an authorised officer of the council, they can be issued with a fixed penalty notice of £20. Fortunately, today all of the drivers who we spoke to agreed to turn off their engines and we therefore did not have to issue any fixed penalty notices. We intend to carry out further visits to the area in the coming weeks.
Please feel free to share the details of our visit with the wider school community. If anyone from the school would like to discuss this with me further, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Regards,
Claire
