Today begins the first full week in November a month in which the Church encourages us to pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory as they ‘wait’ their final glory of God’s Presence in Heaven. God has given us the great gift of prayer – a gift which allows us to help people in a real way including the Holy Souls.
In The Old Testament the Second Book of Maccabees tells us that we can help eradicate the sin :
‘ It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins.’
In your prayers, remember and pray for all who have died and are on ‘their way in Purgatory to Heaven. We pray especially for our own friends and relatives who have died.

Tuesday 6 November 2018.
This week our S4 students are out on work experience. This will provide them with first-hand experience on what their possible career path can involve whilst giving the students important skills that will be recognised in a variety of workplaces. This is an important step in these pupils’ lives by preparing them for progressing life when they leave St Ninian’s.
In the UK, so many people are unemployed. Some are fearful of being fired, others looking for better jobs and money to live. In St Ninian’s High School, we strive to ensure that all pupils go towards a positive destination, be that apprenticeships, college or university.
Please God, give strength and courage to these students to allow them to get the most out of their placements. Let us thank those in the community who have allowed our students to work with them.
Let us say a Hail Mary and also remember the Holy Souls.

In preparation for the week ahead, let us spend some time in quiet personal reflection.
We ask God to continue to walk with us in our daily lives, inspiring us to show love, consideration and compassion in everything that we do.
Lord Jesus Christ, Make me a better person
Considerate towards others, Honest with myself
Faithful to you. Help me to find my true vocation in life and so to find happiness myself
And bring happiness to others
We pray for the Holy Souls and for our own intentions.

The eleventh day of November is known as Armistice Day because this was the day, in 1918, when the First World War ended. It was agreed that the fighting should stop on the ‘eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month’.
The First World War started in 1914. In a little over four years, over 8.5 million people died worldwide and another 20 million were injured. Such was the loss of life that in almost every village and town there were many men who never returned from the fighting. The day was renamed as Remembrance Day after the Second World War, and is now set aside to remember all the men and women who have lost their lives fighting in conflicts.
Listen to the words of The World Peace Prayer:
Lead me from death to life,
from falsehood to truth.
Lead me from despair to hope,
from fear to trust.
Lead me from hate to love,
from war to peace.
Let peace fill our heart,
our world, our universe.
