Health and Wellbeing Lecture

We are delighted to announce that Scotland’s Chief Dental Officer, Margie Taylor, is delivering a Health and Wellbeing lecture at St Ninian’s High School on Thursday 15 September at 7pm.

She will discuss why she embarked on a career in dentistry, what she hopes for the future of dentistry in Scotland and how she plans to target it.

Margie has worked within the NHS in Lanarkshire and Fife. She has also worked in clinical dentistry in Lothian before taking up the role of advising the Scottish Government. She has a strong passion in learning lifelong oral health and reducing the amount of children admitted to hospital with tooth decay, with a focus on areas of deprivation. Margie also raised the issue of oral cancer, the risk of which increases with age.

Margie recently received a CBE from the Queen for her services to dentistry in Scotland.

The format of the evening will be similar to the highly acclaimed ‘TED Talks’ and Margie will answer questions from the audience at the end of her talk.

This event is open to all pupils and parents and it may be of particular interest and relevance to pupils who may be considering a career in dentistry and other science and health related fields.
