My Thanks to Parents & Carers

Dear Parents and Carers

I hope you all had a wonderful restful summer.

Thank you for your great support for the start of the new school year. The pupils have settled well into their studies, they look fantastic and well rested.

Congratulations to pupils and teaching staff on the outstanding academic success recognised in the exceptional SQA Results for 2016.

The results across the national benchmarks were the best ever for the school. I’ll post detailed figures from the national Insight database in early September.

As we begin the academic year it is important to remind ourselves that an outstanding education is not just about the percentage of A grades achieved by our young people, important though results clearly are. Each and every young person is important to us.

Our vision is about nurturing a sense of scholarly interest and passion for learning, inspiring our young people and preparing them for the future equipped with the essential skills and resilience necessary to thrive at Higher and Further education, the work place, and beyond.

This week we have been encouraging all young people to engage with our outstanding extra-curricular programme which caters for every young person so they can develop fully in every aspect of themselves.  None of this is, of course, measurable in examination tables.

We are incredibly proud of our academic record and will always celebrate the success of all of our young people not only in SQA Exams but in the increasing wider range of qualifications where we are seeing great success – vocational awards, Duke of Edinburgh, National Progression Awards, Caritas Award, Saltire Award, and so much more.

As we begin this year it is vitally important that we promote and develop the values which underpin our catholic school – love of God, care for self, kindness towards others, courage, truthfulness, respect, responsibility, and always seeking to make a positive impact in our school and local community by serving others. In today’s society the development of these values is what truly matters. Our shared values are the foundation stones on which we build an excellent school.

Thank you for your continued support for our teachers and support staff.

May this year be one of deep fulfilment in our vocation as parents and teachers to work together inspiring our young people to try to be the best they can be in everything they do.

Best wishes for the year ahead.

John Docherty
