Health and Wellbeing Lecture

We are delighted to announce that Scotland’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Catherine Calderwood, is delivering a Health and Wellbeing lecture at St Ninian’s High School tonight (Wednesday 4 November), at 6pm.  She will be joined by Chris Oliver who is Professor of Health and Physical Activity at Edinburgh University and Orthopaedic Surgeon at Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary.

Our Keynote speaker, Dr Catherine Calderwood (@cathcalderwood1) will discuss why she embarked on a career in medicine and her own experience of juggling a highly successful professional career while maintaining her physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.

Professor Chris Oliver (@cyclingsurgeon) will explore the need to maintain a balance between school work, rest and play as research from the World Health Organisation proves that physical inactivity impairs concentration, productivity at school and contributes to social exclusion and loneliness.

The format will be similar to the highly acclaimed ‘TED Talks’ and both speakers will answer questions from the audience.

This event is open to all pupils and parents and examines why you must make time for your body and mind so that you do achieve your true potential. It may be of particular interest and relevance to pupils who may be considering a career in Medicine and other science and health related fields.
