Careers Convention 1 March 2012
Is careers education important? Absolutely given the current economic situation facing our young people. Pupils should be thinking about careers from an early age, and be reflecting on what career might truly fascinate them. When making subject choices, it is always right that the young people should be motivated by what they love, because it is by choosing the subjects that they love, that they are most likely to find a career that they love. Too often you meet adults who are in careers that no longer interest them or bring job satisfaction. So we believe it is very important that our young people should be reflecting on careers, listening and talking to those in different professions, and thinking through what they themselves might want to do. One of many opportunities for our pupils is the Careers Fair, which is described in more detail below. There will be many highly-qualified exhibitors, many of whom are former pupils and parents. St Ninian’s Careers Evening is on Thursday 1 March from 7 p.m.. It is widely recognised that students must now be researching career options, and where appropriate gaining experience whilst they are are still at school. The Careers Convention is an outstanding opportunity for students to speak to people in almost every profession. We recommend that all students and parents should attend.
