“Newton Mearns Through Time”
A new, 96 page, book is being compiled for publication later in 2014 by Amberley Publishing, in association with the Mearns History Group www.mearnshistory.org.uk, reflecting Mearns through the years – in 180 images including photographs, paintings and advertisements etc., right up to the present time.
More than half of the images will be of modern times, and in colour.
The joint authors of this new book are Anne Robertson and Graeme Smith.
All royalties will be donated to the Isobel Mair School for children with special needs.
Sources of photographs of previous decades, whether in family hands or in files of organisations, clubs and companies, are now being identified for possible inclusion and your help will be much appreciated.
New photographs will also be invited to be taken in colour, to reflect Mearns as of today.
If you, or your organisation, can help provide photographs of the area`s development – especially in decades across the 20th century, and/or in new photos during 2014, – please let the authors know.
