Malawi Donations

Dear Parent / Carer

St Mark’s Primary School are very proud to support three former pupil who has been selected by East Renfrewshire Council as part of group of 24 pupils from across East Renfrewshire going to volunteer in the Dambo School, Kaponda in October. Mrs Robertson will also be on the staff team leading this mission. They will work in partnership with the Betty Cunningham International Trust to enhance the lives of children who attend the school.

So far in Kaponda the Trust has achieved a great deal. They have built a health clinic, dug a well to provide villagers with fresh drinking water and constructed two pre-schools. The hope is to raise sufficient funds to enable the construction of five new buildings in Kaponda. These will house ten classrooms in which to educate and feed all of the remaining children.

We are also hoping that at this time of year, as you are preparing for a new school year, you consider donating items which will be transported out to the village of Kaponda. The trust have asked especially for items such as old clothes, trainers, football strips, school bags, pencil cases, stationery which likely would be replaced during the school holidays. We are asking all of our pupils to donate one of the above items that they will no longer use and leave it on their desk when they finish school this week.

If anyone feels inclined to make a further donation this can be done using the following link.

School Improvement – Have Your Say

Parents have an important role to play in supporting the work of our school and we value your views.  I believe St Mark’s is a happy, hardworking school where everyone strives to be the best they can be.  We recognise our strengths and know that in order to progress we must continue to improve.

Therefore I’d be grateful if you would join us for a short time on Thursday 31st May at 2pm in our Family Room to have your say and talk to your child so that we can use this process as another way of taking your views into account.  We can then use this information when considering the key themes for our School Plan 2018-19.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Kind Regards

Natalie Fitzsimmons
