Dear Pupil,
Part of the Pope Francis Award involves promoting close links between what you are learning about Jesus, the Sacraments, the teaching of the Church and the work of the Parish in serving the needs of the local community. We would like to encourage you as pupils to be active participants in parish life by inviting you to volunteer as welcomers at St John’s Church.
You should take a Pope Francis Faith Award t-shirt when you arrive at the church. You will find these in a box at the entrance. Please look after the t-shirt and leave it back in the box after Mass has finished. Please also note your name on the sheet on the St. Mark’s school board so that your involvement can be recognised. Regular involvement in the parish can lead to a Parish Commendation Award at the end of Primary 7.
As a welcomer you will be required to be at St John’s church 20 minutes before Mass starts to help give out the Order of Service booklets and the bulletins to those parishioners who wish them. You will also be required to stay after Mass for 5 minutes to ensure that all booklets and hymn books are tidied away and the church is left neat and tidy.
Please ensure that you know where your family are sitting and join them just before Mass is about to start.
Thanks again for your commitment to the Pope Francis Award.
Kind Regards,
Fr. Joe
St John’s Parish Priest
