Modern Apprentice Engineering – Multiskilled Maintenance Technicians (Electrical and Mechanical)
What are we looking for?
We are recruiting a total of 6 Apprentices for our estates team to train as Multi Skilled Maintenance Technicians in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
What does the Estates Team do?
The Estates team within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is responsible for the provision of a safe comfortable & statutory compliant environment for our staff, patients and visitors. This is achieved by maintaining and delivering an effective Planned Preventive Maintenance programme and reactive repair service as well as executing installation and commissioning works of critical plant and equipment to support the delivery of all clinical services.
What qualifications do I need to apply?
At the point of submitting your application you must have five National 5 Qualifications at Grades A to C (OR Standard Grade 1 or 2 OR Intermediate 2 ) three of which must be in Maths, English and a Science or Technical Subject.
Is there an age limit?
These apprenticeship are only open to applicants aged 16-24 years (or 29 years for candidates with a disability or who are care experienced*) in line with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Youth Employment Plan and in support of our Workforce Demographics and projections.
* Care experienced applicants are people who live/have lived with foster parents/kinship carers or who live/have lived in a residential children’s setting/secure unit. If this describes you please indicate this in your supporting statement.
What qualifications and training will I receive?
This apprenticeship is completed over four years. During this time you will work towards the SEMTA Engineering Apprenticeship Framework covering the following 5 areas:
- SVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations
- National Certificate in Engineering Systems (SCQF Level 6)
- Core Skills at SCQF Level 5
- SVQ Level 3 in Engineered Systems Maintenance
- HNC in Engineering Systems
Candidates who successfully complete all elements of the NHSGGC Modern Apprenticeship Programme will be supported to move into permanent employment with the organisation.
We anticipate that successful candidates will commence employment (subject to the length of time it takes to complete individual pre employment checks) by July 2019 and Successful candidates will begin their College studies in August 2019.
