S5/6 Organisational and Practical Skills

The S5/6 “REHIS Elementary Cooking” course is aimed to provide candidates with basic cooking skills that increases their confidence, skills and knowledge in the kitchen.

To achieve in this unit the candidates will complete a 45 minute multiple choice assessment based on hygiene and safety within the kitchen.
Once completed and passed the candidates will receive a certificate which is approved and recognized in the Hospitality industry for work which is valid for 5 years.

Students will also complete the REHIS elementary food and health course in which students will learn about nutrition, healthy choices and functions of food. They will complete a written assessment and create and cook a healthy balanced 2 course meal in 1 hour and 30 minutes.

 

After this students will complete 3 National 5 units, these are stand alone units and students will recieve SCQF points for each unit completed.
