Newsletter June 2017

Dear Parent/Carer,

The end of term is upon us and it is with great excitement that we look towards the summer holidays. We have all benefitted from the joy that comes from the warmth of the sun and the opportunity to relax in the sunshine!

Staffing
We welcome Miss Brew, Mrs Sannino, Miss Caldwell, Miss Thomson, Mr McCrea and Miss Bruce to our staff. We say goodbye and good luck to Miss Fawcett and Miss McGrotty and who are leaving us. We especially remember Mrs Young who, after 23 years in the school is retiring and we wish her every happiness! And of course we look forward to Mrs Dillon-Ruddy taking up post as Head teacher in August. It was wonderful of her to share news about her family in the OLM Observer and to share her vision for the school.

Back Pack Appeal
Thank you to everyone for supporting the Mary’s Meals Back Pack Appeal. Over 150 bags were sent in. Thank you for your generosity!

House System
Well done to St Mirin’s for winning House of the Year with 12,618 points. A wonderful achievement!

Matthew Carney Tournament
We were delighted and honoured by Hugh Keevins and Davy Hay presenting the prizes at this year’s Matthew Carney Tournament.  Hugh captured the spirit of the event beautifully. Please follow the link-

Parent Staff Association
Thank you to the PSA and helpers for the P1-6 discos which were well attended and enjoyed by all. Thanks also for catering for the Leavers’ Ceilidh. The P7s enjoyed a wonderful al fresco buffet!

Parent Council
The Parent Council has worked hard this year on a variety of initiatives. Look out for the adaptations to the school playground as work begins over the summer. Watch this space!!

Primary 7 Leavers
Our very best wishes are extended to the boys and girls of Primary 7 as they get ready to move onto high school. The session ended on a very busy note with A Day at the Movies, the Leavers’ Mass in St Joseph’s Church and the Ceilidh in the school hall. The year group has been wonderful to work with and a joy to teach. They have enhanced the ethos of the school and have always represented the school to the highest of standards.
