Newsletter 18th December 2015

Dear Parent/Carer

May I once again thank you for your tremendous support throughout the year and particularly over recent weeks. The school has been extremely busy with fetes, free days, concerts, Nativity Plays and parties. The season of Advent has been truly meaningful as we prepare to celebrate the great feast of Christmas.

Lockerbie Manor
Yet another very successful outward bound experience for P7 pupils. Thanks to the children themselves who participated enthusiastically in all of the activities; hill walking, high ropes, orienteering and much more. It has to be said that the water sports were a great success especially the stand up paddle boarding! Thanks to our own staff who accompanied the children and to the staff of Lockerbie Manor. Already, Mrs Devlin DHT has started to organise next year’s visit!

CHRISTMAS FAYRE
The Parent Staff Association held their annual Christmas Fayre on Saturday 5th December. Many thanks to everyone who supported the event which was a tremendous success. The school was very busy and everyone was certainly in the festive mood.  Huge thanks to the PSA Committee and helpers who set up and looked after the stalls, including a wonderful Santa’s Grotto. Approximately £5,000 was raised. Well done!

School Choir
Well done to the school choir, Miss Kane and Miss McKenna who have been on call most weekends recently and also every day during our Nativity performances. One final venue to catch them in full swing will be Princes Square in Glasgow on Saturday 19th December from 2.00pm until 3.00pm. Congratulations to all involved.

COMPETITIONS
East Renfrewshire Council Road Safety Calendar Competition: Joe-Joe Hargreaves  in Primary 3 had a winning entry for the Road Safety Calendar Competition and his brilliant drawing is included in the annual East Renfrewshire calendar. It can be found within the month of May.

Food Standards Scotland: Aliza Asim P7b also deserves congratulations. Her winning design was selected for the Food Standards Scotland calendar competition. Aliza won £250 for the school and a £50 voucher for herself. Copies of the calendar are being sent home.

Disco

Once again a tremendous success. Thanks to the PSA for funding and helping on the night.

The DJ was fantastic and the P7 children (and staff ) never left the dance floor throughout. They took part in full Christmas spirit. Well Done!!
