To celebrate the 2014 Commonwealth Games coming to Glasgow, East Renfrewshire Council’s Active Schools and Sports Development teams will visit our school on Monday 12th May (P4 – P7) and Tuesday 13th May (P1 – P3).
Active Schools and Sports Development teams have organised a range of fun activities based around the Commonwealth sports. Pupils will participate in these and have an opportunity to take part in East Renfrewshire’s own version of the Queen’s Baton Relay.
If at all possible, we ask that your child brings something to wear during their sporting activity that contains the allocated colour for his/her class. This could be one of the following: a self-coloured t-shirt, or one which contains a little of the relevant colour, jumper, cardigan, a scarf, hairband, shorts or any other appropriate item. These are only suggestions and it is not compulsory. Pupils should bring their outdoor P.E kit, a water bottle and a waterproof jacket. The colours allocated to each class are as follows:
Primary 1a, 2a, 3a yellow (Australia)
Primary 1b, 2b, 3b green (Jamaica)
Primary 1c, 2c, 3c blue (Falkland Islands)
Primary 1d,2d,3d black (Barbados)
Primary 4a, 5a, 6a, 7a orange (India)
Primary 4b, 5b, 6b, 7b red (Canada)
Primary 4c, 5c, 6c, 7c White (New Zealand)
Primary 4d, 5d, 6d Sky Blue (Tuvalu)
I trust that you will agree that this is a great opportunity for our pupils to be invigorated by the excitement of hosting the games in our city and also that this allows them to get more active.
Thank you for your cooperation.
