Our School House System
A House System is in operation in Neilston Primary. Below are listed the main points:
- The house system runs in conjunction with Golden Time and class individual points rewards system
- House names relate to Neilston: Kingston (Green), Harelaw (Red), Caldwell (Blue) and Broadlie (Yellow)
- Families are grouped together in the same house
- Pupils losing Golden Time would in turn lose house points
- House captain and vice captain voted by members of each house (both offices are held by P7 pupils)
- House points awarded at assembly for achievements in relation to Curriculum for Excellence
- House points awarded for representing the school eg football team, pupil council meetings
- Big award for winning house eg dress as you please/fun day
- weekly count
- Biannual award
- House cup to be awarded at the end of session
- House mediators to meet with pupils who persistently lose Golden Time
- House points to be recorded on class chart
- Pupil counters to denote the pupils’ house colour
- Class teachers to award class points to houses (sliding scale)
- Class captain/star pupil to be awarded a bonus 5 points
- Transparent containers to be displayed in class for additional house points awarded at assemblies or handed out for significant displays of the four capacities of CfE
- Purple counter to be treated as a minus 5 or 10 house points
- Houses and accumulated total of points to be displayed prominently at the school entrance
- Pupils to wear coloured badges denoting their house
