Swimming Gala

Congratulations to all of the pupils involved in the West of Scotland Sports Organisation Swimming Gala which took place today at the Sir Matt Busby pool in Bellshill.

We had some very confident swimmers with personal best times being achieved and a few 1st and 2nd places in individual races.

Medals and achievement ribbons were presented to all the swimmers by Mr McGauley at our assembly this afternoon.

Well done everyone.

Judo Taster Session

Senior pupils from Shetland and Orkney classes were highly motivated during the taster judo session as part of the anti bullying focus week at IMS.

They were highly disciplined, attending and following instructions from the instructor throughout the session.

This taster session allowed the pupils to experience a positive outlet for physical energy and competitive spirit, highlighting team work and friendships.

Anti Bullying Week

This week we have an anti bullying focus at school.

Various activities are taking place including both within the classes and with external visitors.

We have a Judo taster session, a performance from the pupils of St Luke’s High School and internal pesentations between classes in the form of drama, art, songs and poems.

On Friday everyone will come together for an anti bullying assembly.

Christmas Service 2012

Thank you to everyone who came to support our Christmas Service today, “The Magical Christmas Jigsaw”.

I’m sure you will agree that the pupils were amazing and all so confident with their parts.

After all the rehearsals with Mr Hay and class teachers, everything went well on the day. Pupils were even practising their lines at home as they wanted to make sure it was perfect.

Have a look at some of the photographs below.

Thank You to Williamwood High School

A big thank you to Miss Dickson and the 6th year pupils from Williamwood High School who have been  fundraising all year and organised a Christmas party for all the pupils.

Everyone had great fun……. a few dances before our party treats and then back to the party games.

We even had some social dancing and pass the parcel with Miss Dickson’s help.

Santa made a surprise visit and all the pupils were delighted with the gifts.

Once a again a big THANK YOU to everyone at Williamwood High for a fantastic christmas party.

“Something Special” at Isobel Mair School

Parents, staff and pupils from the school and Family Centre all came together this morning to watch the premiere of the “Something Special” series which some of the pupils took part in.

The title of the series was “Ceilidh” and the pupils took part in scottish country dancing and making shortbread with Justin. Freya and Anna also used Makaton to sign and speak with Mr Tumble.

The children loved seeing themselves and we are all so proud of them.

mAIRwaves FM

Class Whalsay have posted a new recording for mAIRwavesFM.

This week they also enjoyed a visit from Carolynne McKendry who is the Health and Wellbeing Coordinator for ERC.

The class had great fun chatting to Carolynne about their audio blogs for mAIRwavesFM and she gave them some great ideas and tips for future recordings.

Mr McGauley was interviewed by Carolynne and will  be available soon on pulse98.4

Winter Wonderland Thank You

Thank You to everyone involved and who came to support our Christmas Winter Wonderland Christmas Fair last Wednesday evening.

The event was a huge success and we were delighted to have pupils from St Cadoc’s and Crookfur Primary schools who came along and supported us with the joint carol singing as part of Community Unity.

The Christmas Light Switch on took place whilst the choir sang some Christmas carols and our special visitor “Santa” was delighted to have the honour of pressing the switch.

We had Christmas stalls, face painting, raffles, games, nail zone and much more, celebrating the enterprise activities of all the pupils.

A fantastic community event supporting life in the Isobel Mair School and Family Centre, bringing everyone together on a fun evening and at the same time raising a fantastic amount for school funds.
