Community Unity Celidh

Last Wednesday saw Loch Ness Corridor join in with our local primary schools as part of the Community Unity initiative at the Annual Eastwood High School Ceilidh. Previously known as ‘Twinning’, Community Unity is the extension of the anti-sectarian message developed in both St. Cadoc’s and Crookfur Primary Schools.

A busy programme of events is scheduled throughout the school year and Isobel Mair School has now been invited to take part, taking our place as active participants within our new school community.

The Ceilidh was a great success and was well attended by Primary 7 pupils from Crookfur and St. Cadoc’s and a mix of pupils from our Primary Department.

Pupils were entertained by our Scottish Country Dancing Team, “Reels on Wheels” and an ambulant dance was also performed to a great reception. Well done to all our pupils!

This Thursday we will welcome pupils from St Cadoc’s who will be performing for our pupils in our MOD. More details to follow.

Pantomime Time

Classes Jura and Orkney are off to the Palace Theatre in Kilmarnock this morning  to see Snow White……………… oh no they’re not!

We had some very excited pupils in classes this morning as they prepared for their outing to the pantomime.

Hopefully some of the pupils will give us an audio blog about the visit on return to school.

Donations Required for Parent Council Christmas Fair

This week our Parent Council are looking for Parents/Carers to donate some home baking for the Christmas Fair……….. you can even ask your Grannie to help out.

Last year the homebaking was the most popular stall and in fact we sold out. So we are looking for your help to make this happen again this year.

It would be appreciated if you could hand in any contributions on Friday 30th November or Saturday 1st December from 9am.

Please clearly label any containers or tupperware boxes and include the pupils name and class if you wish them to be returned.

Thank you for all your support and we look forward to seeing you on Saturday 1st December.

Oral Health

Class Lewis are currently doing an oral health topic as part of their health and wellbeing.

To support our teaching and learning Arlene Robertson, the oral health educator for East Renfrewshire, came in to show us why it is important to brush our teeth and how to take care of them.

We all loved the giant toothbrush and dinosaur puppet with big teeth to brush.

mAIRwavesfm have posted a new recording

Listen to the recent recording from mAIRwavesfm.

Class Whalsay helped to select a jingle to add to the recordings and Alex was the presenter for this episode, interviewing his friends about the recent halloween party.

Great work from our pupils taking ownership of this activity and showing how confident and successful they are in their learning.

Hope you enjoy listening to our recent recording.

All the classes are busy preparing for the forthcoming danceathon, enterpise activity which takes place on Wednesday 31st October.

Our sessions will start at 9.30am with our dance therapist, Nicola and then working with a hip hop specialist in the afternoon. Our reels on wheels group will take part with a few wheelchair dances.

Lots of exctitng moves ahead from staff and pupils we think. If you need some practise click here.

All pupils will have a sponsor form to take home if you would like to sponsor them in their enterprise activity.

Religious Leaders of Scotland visit IMS

We welcomed Religious Leaders of Scotland for a tour of the school and to meet some of the pupils before a National GLOW event hosted by pupils from Isobel Mair, Williamwood, St Ninians and Eastwood High Schools.

Our school’s  junior choir including pupils from the Family Centre performed “Grow” for our visitors and then our Reels on Wheels, wheelchair dance group performed two dances for them.

The GLOW event, the impact of religion and spirituality on Health and Wellbeing promoted a lively debate amongst our pupils and religious leaders and our pupils were delighted to be given the opportunity to have their questions answered.

Our junior choir sing for our visitors.
