This week, Primary 4 visited a livestock and arable farm in Inchinnan as part of our Farm to Fork topic.

- It was really interesting seeing all of the cows and getting to look at them.

- Cows eat their food by picking it up with their tongues.

- Looking at the cows in the barn and learning all about them!

- We learnt about the tags that cows have on their ears to show where they are from – some even have two on one ear!

- We learnt that cows only have teeth on the bottom part of their mouth, not on the top..

- It was funny seeing the cows and watching them in the barn. One of them was stretching and looked like it was doing yoga!

- The farmer explained that on this farm, they only have male cows, and no other types of animals.

- We learnt that only female cows produce milk, not male ones.

- The farmer explained about all the different types of food that the cattle are fed.

- We learnt that cows have four stomachs – not just one like we have!

- We learnt that cows have very long tongues and don’t just eat grass, they also east grains for protein.

- The farmer showed us the different types of grain that they grow on the farm – barley and wheat. Some of the grain is used to make whiskey.
