EWHCF Class of 2020

Welcome Back!

We are all glad to be back at school after the holidays, catching up with our  friends and working hard. Our new classroom is a Modular Classroom away from the main building but it looks just like a normal classroom and we are really enjoying learning in it.

We have been very busy this week doing lots of different activities. On Wednesday we were lucky enough to be shown around some of the building site. We all had to wear hard hats and hi-vis jackets. We got to see where the new nursery and office would be – it was huge!

“It was really exciting – we walked up the hill and into the site, the nursery was much bigger than our classrooms.” – Yvie

“I would like to drive a digger!” – Marcel

This week we were introduced to the Global Goals. These are aims to make the world a better place for everyone and everything that lives in it. We talked about how we could use our everyday superpowers to help which are: innovating, creativity and campaigning. We all drew ourselves as super heroes and decided which everyday superpower we had.

“You can use your own powers to make the world better.” – Calum

“I chose creativity because I like creating things and I would like to do this as well when I am older.” – Holly

We all made self-portraits to display in the classroom. Miss Bishop showed us how to split the face up into different sections by folding the paper to make sure that we put the eyes, nose, mouth, hair and ears in the right places.

“It was fun because you got to do a portrait but it was only half a face and you also got to put your name in bubble writing and colour in the background.” – Harry

The PE teacher, Mr Barlow, took us to Eastwood High School for our PE this week. We will be using Eastwood for our PE with Mr Barlow while the building works are being done. We had to run between markings on the football pitch, getting faster and faster every time we ran. The first time we had five seconds, the second time four seconds and then three seconds. We also raced to run and touch all corners of the football pitch. We were all exhausted!

“I really liked it when we had to race to cones that were the same colour as ours. It was really fun – we also got to run sideways, go backwards and do hopscotch.” – Jessica
