We have a committee of Junior Road Safety Officers from Primary 6 and 7, who help to organise our events and promote road and cycle safety at school assemblies.

Two of our Junior Road Safety Officers attended a local community event launching the new road safety mascot, Jackton.
Walk to School Month 2019-2020
We took part in Walk to School Month. Our JRSOs monitored the record charts to keep track of success across the school.
JRSO Cycle Outing 2017-2018
In 2014 our JRSOs attended the opening of the National Cycle Network between Barrhead and Paisley. This year our JSROs cycled the route as a fun way to celebrate the work they had carried out.
The Big Pedal 2018
As part of our ongoing work as a Cycle Friendly School, Cross Arthurlie is took part in the Sustrans Big Pedal, which ran from Monday 23rd April to Friday 4th May. We encouraged as many pupils as possible to cycle or scoot to school.
Our Junior Road Safety Officers counted the number of bikes and scooters, in each class, every day. Parent/carer cycle journeys were also added to the class total. We were delighted to achieve 1st place in the Scotland Large Schools category.
JRSO Be Bright, Be Seen Day 2018
Our JSROs organised a Be Bright, Be Seen Day. Everyone in the school was encouraged to wear something bright and the JRSOs gave a prentation at assembly to remind everyone of the importance of wearing bright and reflective clothing, especially in the evening. There was also a competition to count the number of high visibility vests worn in our playground that day.
