Today saw the awards ceremony for our Silver and Gold winners in the annual University of Strathclyde Maths Challenge. The four pupils attending worked extremely hard on what was a gruelling challenge, obtaining fantastic overall scores. As a school, we are very proud of their achievements.
Glow Users can now download for free the Microsoft Office 2016 apps on up to 15 personal devices; up to 5 PCs or Macs, 5 tablets (Windows, iPad and Android) and 5 phones. This includes all staff and pupils.
Making the these apps available helps Glow users take full advantage of the opportunities these tools offer. The Office apps which include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote provide a learning platform that translates beyond school and into the world of work.
To download the Office 2016 apps, log in to Glow and either click on the Download Office Now tile or go to the Office 365 Home tile and once in O365, click on “Install Office 2016” at the top right of the page.
We were fortunate enough to be visited recently by Education Scotland, who were interested in using our Skills Academy as an example of good practice in relation to Developing the Young Work Force.

Busby were represented at last night’s Dance Competition by Courtney and Brooke. They were amazing!
Everyone slept well and we are off to the Day 2 activities. Group 1 have made it to the observatory with minimal complaining about the 50 minute walk. We have just climbed the 89 stairs to the telescope (yes we counted!) and are ready to start our workshop.
Mrs Oswald’s group are currently at Camera Obscura.
Using skills learned during our Skills Academy, some children from the Second Level Group visited Cartmill Family Centre to help the Nursery children plant a new willow bed.

We have arrived at Dynamic Earth. Everyone is very excited and looking forward to the day!
Miss Lawson took her choir to compete at the Glasgow Music Festival on Tuesday 14th March. The girls sang beautifully with the adjudicators commenting that “the tempo nuances were well handled” and it was “a very well constructed programme.”
Well done to Miss Lawson and the choir.

The school is now closed for the Winter holiday and re-opens on Thursday 5th January 2017 at 9am.
What a fantastic experience for our P4 and P5 pupils this afternoon, supported by Colin from Google. The pupils were able to explore the universe and The Great Barrier Reef using Google Cardboard virtual reality viewers. From the oohs and aaghs that filled the room a great time was had by all!
