All senior students have been issued with a prelim timetable this week.
Students should ensure that they are familiar with the date and times of each exam. They should also ensure that they arrive in good time to allow each exam to start on time.
Each student will receive an individual timetable prior to the start of the exams stating dates, times, rooms and seat allocation.
Congratulations to Kirsty McGinley (S4) who recently competed in the Scottish Schools Draft.
In both the 200m and 400m Individual Medley, Kirsty managed to finish in 4th place; a fabulous achievement.

Please view the supported study calendar for January. These supported study sessions will focus on exam technique and preparation for the prelims that commence on the 30th of January. Such sessions are vital in supporting our young people prepare for assessment, so please encourage your son/daughter to make full use of the sessions on offer.
By the end of today, all S4 and S5 students will have taken part in a Mindset for Achievement workshop, which encourages students to question their response to an opportunity or challenge in their life.
The course has been delivered by Live-n-Learn, a local company that specialises in motivating secondary school students.
Parents of S4 and S5 students are welcome to attend our workshop, tonight at 6.30pm in Ralston, where you can experience the motivational techniques first hand.

All S4 & S5 students will be issued with a letter in the next few days detailing a Mindset for Achievement workshop that will be held on Monday & Tuesday, 1st & 2nd December. This fast-paced workshop will challenge student’s attitudes and beliefs; do they have a fixed or growth mindset, how to deal with challenges in their lives and how to motivate themselves.
In addition, we are offering a parents’ mindset workshop on Tuesday, 2nd December at 6.30pm.
If you would like to attend the parents’ mindset workshop, then please return the tear-off slip (see the student letter) to the school office.

Well done to BHS Senior Boys Basketball Team who managed a slim victory against St Ninians HS, winning 24-26.
Barrhead started the game brilliantly with some excellent inter-play between D Mundemba and A Watson. Into the second quarter with Barrhead leading 7-11, St Ninians stormed into the lead, finishing the half 17-13 ahead.
In the second half both teams tired a little, which allowed J Beatt to demonstrate some excellent individual skill by driving to the basket on numerous occasions. The final few minutes of the game were frantic, with Barrhead ahead by two points both teams used time-outs to tweak their offences. Further good work from D Mundemba in defense ensured victory for Barrhead.
Well done to all of the boys involved, including those that debuted for the team – E. Stevenson, A Innes, R Cooper, A Gilmour, S Ahmed, N Telerman and K McCormack.
Please find the ‘Spotlight’ assessment timetable for our S4 pupils currently undertaking National Qualifications. Spotlight assessments will take place during class time on the days indicated. The spotlight assessments will take place following the October holidays from the 20th to the 25th of October and will be reported on in the full exam reports in November.
The Information Evening for S3/4 parents on Tuesday gave a useful introduction to the new National Qualifications that their sons/daughters are sitting this year.
Feedback was positive and the parents felt they had a better picture of what would be involved for the young people.
There was a lot of information given and the presentations and handouts can be found on the website under ‘New National Qualifications, information for parents’. A number of useful websites have been highlighted in the presentations.

A reminder to all S3 & S4 parents that our Information Evening commences at 6.30pm tonight (tea and coffee served from 6.15pm).
The evening will focus on the new National Courses and how you can best support your child as they progress towards the SQA examinations in May 2015.
