Parents of pupils in S1 & S2, as well as parents of pupils in P6 & P7 in our associated primary schools, have been invited to come in to school to see what school life is like for their young people in the new school.
The evening will commence at 7 pm in the Games Hall. From there parents will go in groups to 3 different areas of the school to get a taste of school life and find out what pupils are doing in the classroom. Everybody will then return to the Games Hall and some of our ‘PE’ pupils will entertain us.
During the evening, there will also be musical contributions and displays showing other aspects of school life.
Rapid Response is ideally suited to Curriculum for Excellence as an interdisciplinary project which challenges pupils to consider the importance of STEM subjects – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Students compete in groups of 6 completing a variety of problem-solving tasks including purifying water, building shelters and transporting water.
S2 pupils have also been working hard to create DIY volcanoes. This year saw some of our best ever entries; we had cakes, explosions and cross-sections!
All the volcanoes were of a very high standard and fitted the brief – to have the correct outer shape and colouring of a volcano, with some also showing the volcano’s inner structure.
A big thanks to all the mums, dads, carers, grans and papas for all their support (and putting up with the mess!)
