School starts back for all pupils on Thursday 13th Aug at the usual time – warning bell rings at 8.40 am. We are looking forward to welcoming you all back and especially the new S1 pupils.
The new S1 pupils will meet in the Theatre at 8.45 am – other year groups will go straight to their Period 1 class. Please look out your timetable from June.
All pupils are expected to return in full uniform, including blazers, dress trousers (not black denims or skinny jeans) or appropriate length school skirts and all-black shoes (no coloured trims/laces/etc). Don’t forget the PE top!
Please do not arrive wearing inappropriate items.
Any pupils in S5 or S6 who are wishing to make changes to their options in the light of exam results, should come into school next Wednesday 12th Aug between 11 am and 2 pm to see Mrs Crawford.
The reception with Nicola Sturgeon took place today (early morning our time) and she met with the East Renfrewshire group.
As indicated in the previous post, Euan had been selected to represent the group and he spoke very well on behalf of ERC and the North East hubs. He is dressed in kung fu gear as he was also performing later – hopefully we will get some pictures of that!
A group of East Renfrewshire pupils are currently visiting China, accompanied by our own Principal Teacher of Modern Language, Miss Catriona Ness. One of our pupils, Euan Stevenson (S6), is also part of the party.
They have linked up with the partner school and also had some time sightseeing and learning about the culture of the host country. This has included a visit to the Great wall.
Euan performed a tea ceremony at the partnership school; however this Sunday (tomorrow), Nicola Sturgeon is meeting with the group in Beijing and Euan has been selected to speak to her. He’ll be inviting her back to Barrhead for a cuppa next!
The BBC will be there too so look out for some mentions in the media!
We are looking forward to a full report on their return.

Congratulations to Ailish (and Heather Bingham) who recently competed in the Scottish Synchronized Swimming Club Championships as members of Clydebank Synchronized Swimming Club.
This is a club championship where all ages/skills compete in each section with the aim of getting the best place possible to accumulate club points. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each section additionally get medals so Ailish and Heather had to compete with the senior skill swimmers for any medal places.
Clydebank brought back the trophy for the third consecutive year, so are once again Scottish Club Champions coming home with the Mary Black Rosebowl.
Ailish and Heather were delighted to get a silver medal for their trio, Ailish was placed 4th for her first ever duet and her team placed 5th (their senior team getting 1st).
Well done to both girls on their achievements.
Pretty Muddy 2015 – We did it!
A huge congratulations to the 10 pupils and 7 staff members who took part in the Race for Life ‘Pretty Muddy’ 5K run on Saturday 20th June at Bellahouston Park.
There was a fantastic atmosphere at the event and our Barrhead High runners even got a mention on the event radio station.
Well done girls!
