Parentsportal – Sign Up to Communicate with the School Online

Parents Portal logo

ERC are opening up a new digital tool to help communication between schools and parents/carers – Parentsportal.scot.

The portal is designed to replace ‘schoolbag mail’ which will reduce the use of paper and perhaps more importantly reduce the chances of communications not reaching home (or back into school!).

The portal  will give you basic information about your child’s school and will allow you to:-

  • view school calendar and events
  • view your child’s timetable (for pupils in secondary school)
  • view your child’s attendance
  • complete the annual data check process electronically when issued
  • update your own, as well as your child’s, details at any time (Please note that schools will still require address evidence before they will authorise any change.)
  • access online school payments without having to login separately to ParentPay.
  • access your child’s report card online (available soon, initially for secondary schools)
  • move easily between individual children in a family, at different schools, without the having to log back into the system.

For further information, guidance and access to parentsportal.scot, please  click on the link:-    www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk/parentsportal

The Education Department has an agreed planned roll-out starting with secondary schools.

I hope that parentsportal.scot and its services will become an every-day part of the school experience for both you and your child,  and I am sure we will all see the benefits very quickly. I would encourage every parent to sign up for this.

I have sent a letter with further details to all parents’ email addresses – if you have not received this, then that is an indication that we do not hold an up-to-date email address for you. Please let us know in this case. You can also access the letter with the link below.

The SQA arrangements are different this year with the exams not taking place. The statement below clarifies the procedures that all schools in ERC will follow. Note that results will still be released on 4th Aug as scheduled and schools cannot share estimated grades prior to that.

Digital Supports for Home Learning

Lots of young people use digital supports to help them access their work when in school. The Support Department has created a guide to show young people which supports are available at home to make home-learning easier and more accessible. This includes hints and tips about reading software, voice to text software, and other useful ideas. There’s a copy on all year group google classrooms too.
