The Higher PE course is split into 2 units:
Performance = 40%
Analysis and Development of Performance = 60%
Pupils participate in three activities: badminton / trampolining, basketball and football / netball.
Analysis and development of performance looks at these ways of improving performance:
Skills and techniques – Badminton / Trampolining
Preparation of the body – Football / Netball
Structures and strategies – Basketball
(formations and tactics)
Pupils have a log book which must be completed before the end of March. Pupils need to pass this to complete the course.
Pupils with excellent performance in an activity can be awarded a unit pass at a level higher than the course they are following e.g. a higher pupil who excels in badminton could gain a performance unit at advanced higher level. The grade awarded at each level is marked out of 20.
Homework
Homework will be issued regularly, with a fair amount aimed towards the completion of NABs. Past paper questions will also be set for pupils.
