P4 have been learning all about the Ancient Greeks. We created a plan together about all the things that P4s already knew about the topic and then asked some interesting questions!
What are the Ancient Greek houses like? What do they eat? What were the Greek Gods like? What were their stories like? In groups we created Big Books with everything that we learned.
Primary 4 have been working hard to create a fantastic reading zone outside our classroom! It’s a fun vibrant place to read and learn. We worked together in working groups to come up with the idea, design, created rules to follow and planned how it would work. Have a look-what do you think? 🙂
We have been been learning lots about the Human Organs. We have used reading strategies to locate information for a non-fiction passage and then created summaries. A few examples will be uploaded soon!!
” It was really fun to write a summary about the human heart. I learned that it takes 45 seconds for the blood to go around the body!” Amy
We’ve been looking at the visual elements in art this term. We have been thinking about colour and what makes a primary colour and that mixing colours make up secondary colours/complementaty colours. Here are a few examples!
We have been creating illustrations of the BFG – Quentin Blake Style. We used a step by step guide which was created by Quentin Blake himself. We read and followed the instructions carefully. We sketched our drawings using pencil and when we were happy with our work we went over our sketches with a black felt tip pen to make the details stand out. We used the side of our crayons to add the skin tone which gave a nice smooth effect. We enjoyed working on this project and we were delighted with our results.
In science we are investigating our senses. We gathered evidence on our senses walk to help us write our senses poem. We used our literacy skills to write a descriptive poem. We loved the experience of being outdoors!
In PE we have been practising our overarm throw. We were working in pairs using a ball and then played games using beanbags. We found out that we can complete an overarm throw using both balls and beanbags.
“It’s very good and you can do it with any hand” Lucas
In art and design we have been learning about texture. We talked about the texture of our favourite toy then used different materials to create an observational drawing.
