DFib Week with Red Cross

Today, Mark from Red Cross joined us in class. We learned about seizures and how to stop it. We also learned about swallowing something harmful and to stop it by making them calm down and think of something they like . If someone got burned, you should put the burned bit under a tap for 10 minutes.

Evacuee Drama

Today we started to learn about evacuation. We watched a video and Miss Barr also had a PowerPoint. We finished the lesson by completing some drama activities. This is Sebastian in the hot seat as an evacuee from London. The class enjoyed asking him lots of questions. These included ‘what are your new family like?’ and ‘are you missing home?’.

Maths Week

In P7.26 we kicked off maths week with a times table treasure hunt in class. Miss Barr hid lots of the answers around the classroom and we had to work out the answer before finding the code. We also had a look at the Fibonacci sequence. I enjoyed seeing how it is used in nature. We had a go at trying some of our own, which we will develop in our next maths lesson.

The Scream

We finished European Language Day by creating our very own versions of ‘The Scream’ by Edvard Munch. He is a Norwegian symbolist painter, printmaker and important forerunner of expressionistic art. He is best known for ‘The Scream’. Have a look at some of ours 😊.

European Language Day in P7.26

Today we took part in a quiz called “Who wants to be a millionaire”, we answered questions about world population and languages.

Then we looked at how to say “Hello” in lots of different languages. We all got stickers with “talk to me” in different languages on them!!

Rose water

Yesterday I brought in some rose water for the class to try. I did this because I am currently studying Hindu weddings and this is a popular drink. Chloe 😊

SPACE – Our Irresistible Curriculum in P7

One of our curricular areas we are focusing on in our irresistible curriculum is Science – Space. During our last session we designed our own solar system using everyday materials. We had to design every planet by look, size and colour. We had to work in teams to create the solar system. By Isla

RME – Marriages across Religions

During the irresistible curriculum we have been doing RME and we were learning about marriages across religions. Me and my group decided to focus on Hindu weddings and for that we decided to bring in food to share with the class. You wouldn’t have this food at the first wedding, but more the second or third one. Have a look at some of the food! By Chloe and Isla

Decorating cakes in Mearns Masters

Starting of with basic fairy cakes, my group started with a layer of yellow fondant with a turquoise blue buttercream to act as the sea. On top of the sea was dark blue fondant shaped like a shark fin. On the yellow fondant, there was a fondant palm tree topped with green star shaped leaves.                                        I enjoyed this experience and learned some skills for the Mearns Bake Off.
