Castle life Personal Project

Primary 2.7 have been working hard on their castle life personal project. Each of pupils have been creative when completing each of the different aspects of the project.

They have been creating their own coat of arms:

Designing armour for a 21st century knight:

Creating their own crowns for a king or a queen:

Investigating royal family trees and creating a family tree of their own:

Designing their very own castles:

Turning their castle designs into 3D models using recycled materials found at home:

Not only have each of the pupils been working hard on their personal projects they have been writing some fantastic stories, reading books in their special reading spot and helping to make dinner and bake at home. What talented pupils we have in Primary 2.7.

Functional writing

Primary 2.7 wrote thank you letters to all of the staff at our hospitals and the emergency services to thank them for all the work they are doing to keep us safe and healthy.

Buoyancy experiment

We tested the buoyancy of the boats that we made using coins or marbles. We had to count how many coins or marbles that we could fit into our boats.

Recycled boats

We we enjoyed getting to make our own boats from recycled materials. We had to use our knowledge of boats and our previous learning of floating and sinking to make a boat that would be water worthy.

We enjoyed learning all about Chinese New Year. We enjoyed reading the story and learning to write numbers in Chinese.

We took part in a thesaurus challenge to try and find words that mean the same as.

Waterstones Trip

Primary 2.7 got to go and visit Waterstones to learn all about a bookshop. We learnt all about how the books are organised and got to take part in a jigsaw hunt.

We have been learning to answer questions on a text. We used highlighters to locate the information in the text that would help us answer the questions.

Robert Burns

Well done to both of the girls who represented Primary 2.7 and their houses in the Burns house challenge. Well done to Aarohi who won 2nd place for her house!

Library

We really enjoyed visiting the library and getting to choose different books to read. We learnt all about the library system in Mearns Primary and the importance of reading the blurb of a book before starting to read it.
