Today we visited the Mctaggart and Mikel site across from our school following our campaign to preserve wildlife in new housing developments. We planted wildflower seeds and were the very first children to try out their brand new playground βοΈ

Today we continued to develop our coding skills through the addition of interactive titles to our scratch games/stories. We added code to the sprites which meant that letters or images could change colour, make sounds or change size π

Today we began our new block of Mearns Masters, The Coders β¨οΈ we enjoyed creating storyboards for our new interactive games and coding the spheroes π€©

Today we had a special visit from Mark Brand who works in planning for East Renfrewshire Council. Mark did a fantastic workshop with the whole class looking at the housing development opposite our school and how we could re-design it to make it even more wildlife friendly π³πͺ·π¦«
We enjoyed working in groups to design our own developments and incorporating our own ideas like bug hotels, hedgehog homes and bird boxes!

This week our class worked brilliantly to complete their Designers Project π§΅ using the skills we have developed over our block the class worked together to produce sustainable cotton bags that will be used to deliver lunch bands to classes πͺ‘


Today we delivered our finished bags to the lunch staff βοΈ well done to all of the class on an amazing project!

We have really been enjoying our block of Designers and the whole class have been coming on a lot with our sowing skills. Today we focused on making miniature bags which could hold small items π§΅πͺ‘

We look forward to beginning our project of making bags for all classes in the school to use for the lunch bands ππΌ
Today we began our new block of Mearns Masters – Designers. The skill we will be developing over the next 6 weeks will be sowing πͺ‘
We spent time today learning to thread a needle and then practiced cross-stitching on fabric and even tried sowing on buttons to our designs π§Ά
Luckily we had lots of experts on hand to help us learn these new skills and we even taught Miss Hardie how to sow π§΅
We look forward to starting our project over this block – stay tuned!!

We had a great day in the kitchen with our second group of Gastronomers making our Haggis, βNeeps and Tatties π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ
