We spent yesterday afternoon decorating our classroom ready for Christmas!
We then had a very special arrival today from a certain elf who landed in our Christmas tree🎄

We have really been enjoying our block of Designers and the whole class have been coming on a lot with our sowing skills. Today we focused on making miniature bags which could hold small items 🧵🪡
We look forward to beginning our project of making bags for all classes in the school to use for the lunch bands 🙌🏼
Les mois et Les saisons 🇫🇷
Today we were learning the different seasons in French and the months of the year We listened to songs and completed jotter work about the different times of year 🌸
We then completed exit passes stating what our favourite month and seasons are 💯
Cursive Handwriting ✍🏼
We have been working hard to develop our cursive handwriting in class. Today we focused on joining silent letters and creating block patterns through our joins ✏️
Giglets Online Event 📖
We had a great time this morning at the Giglets online event for their new book Tommy Foghorn 🔈
The author read us the story and then we heard from the illustrator who answered lots of questions about how he created the characters for the story. We saw his concept ideas and how he combined them to make the main character Tommy ✍🏼
This afternoon we are going to create our own versions of the story with us as the main character! ⭐️
Friday Fitness 💪🏼
We have been busy today with our new block of indoor PE. We are working on our fitness through circuits 💪🏼
We did a range of activities including shuttle runs, sit ups, push ups, tricep dips, burpees, plank and lunges 🏃♀️🏃
Designers Week 1 🪡🧶🧵
Today we began our new block of Mearns Masters – Designers. The skill we will be developing over the next 6 weeks will be sowing 🪡
We spent time today learning to thread a needle and then practiced cross-stitching on fabric and even tried sowing on buttons to our designs 🧶
Luckily we had lots of experts on hand to help us learn these new skills and we even taught Miss Hardie how to sow 🧵

Solo Talks 🎤
We have had an exciting morning listening to the first group of Solo Talks on the 7 Wonders of the World 🗺️
We have focused on being an excellent audience and giving feedback to our peers 🌟
A busy week in P5.17 🌟
In class we have been working on direct speech in grammar and creating our own sentences to punctuate 📝
Outside we enjoyed races in our houses (when we finally got a dry day! 🌧️)
Today we created a cityscape for Bonfire night using chalk and building stencils we created 🎆
Developing our Maths Skills 🧮
As we are progressing further through Second Level Maths we have been enjoying Active Maths tasks in class and solving challenge questions together.
