Today we visited the Mctaggart and Mikel site across from our school following our campaign to preserve wildlife in new housing developments. We planted wildflower seeds and were the very first children to try out their brand new playground βοΈ
Today in Bikeability we were starting to develop our control on the bike with one hand through high-fiving, or waving to our partner as we cycled past ππΌ We also practised looking behind our shoulder as we would do in traffic and calling out the number that was held up behind us π²
This afternoon we visited our school library and explored the wide range of books that were there π π
We had a fantastic day on our school trip to Kelburn Park. We enjoyed exploring the secret forest, the adventure playground and free play in the grounds area π³

We had an excellent first session of Bikeability in the sunshine βοΈ we worked on controlled breaking, weaving, cycling in straight lines and slow races π²

Today we continued to develop our coding skills through the addition of interactive titles to our scratch games/stories. We added code to the sprites which meant that letters or images could change colour, make sounds or change size π
Today we began our new block of Mearns Masters, The Coders β¨οΈ we enjoyed creating storyboards for our new interactive games and coding the spheroes π€©
Today we had a visit from social enterprise Scotland and we discussed current affairs in the world that we care about and what business we could create to help make the world a better place πππΌ
We enjoyed creating cherry blossom inspired vases through the use of tissue paper, paint and patterns π¨πΈ
We have been enjoying STEM week in P5.17 and on Wednesday we had a visit from University of Strathclyde PhD students! They spoke to us about their experiences in Forensic Chemistry π§ͺ we then helped to solve a mystery using Chromatography π And played Periodic Table Bingo βοΈΒ Β
In the afternoon we completed a Paper Chain Challenge in our houses where we were given a single piece of paper, scissors and glue and we worked together in groups to try and make the longest chain βοΈ
Today we worked together on the Jelly Tot Structure challenge where we had to use our engineering and design skills to build a structure from jelly tots and cocktail sticks! We then tested their strength by seeing how many books our tower could hold π
