Season trees

We have been learning about weather and climate. We have enjoyed learning about the different seasons of the year and how each season effects our environment. We have created trees that represent each of the 4 seasons of the year.

Outdoor Measuring

In Primary 2.7 we have been learning about measuring in cm. We took our learning outdoors and were learning to measure different items that we see in our playground everyday.

Revision folders

Every child in Primary 2.7 was given a folder that contained number families and bond books and coloured card word lists. These can be used at home to revise number work and improve reading, spelling and writing.

Number bonds and families booklets

These booklets contains calculations up to 20. These booklets can be used to reinforce their knowledge and understanding of number bonds and families, which will benefit their learning when they start to move onto carrying/exchanging/multiplying calculations. You can work with your child to improve their knowledge in an oral or written form.

Coloured word cards

There are a number of activities that you can compete with the word  lists. The words can be cut into word cards and be used in a number of ways such as:

  • Read,say,cover,write and check
  • Silly and normal sentences
  • Alphabetical order
  • Splat game (turn a number of the word cards facing down and get your child to splat a word card. When they splat a word card they turn it over and say the word, if they know they word they keep the word card and if they don’t the card goes back into the game)
  • Rainbow words
  • Word detective (try to find the word in different places around the house)

Homework in Primary 2.7

Homework will be handed out on a Monday and should be returned on a Friday.  All homework tasks will be written into your child’s homework diary.  Homework will be written in diaries using abbreviations.  Each abbreviation links to a different homework task:

S- spelling

M- maths

R- reading

P- phonics

Homework should be returned to school in the homework folder to keep everything together. If you have any questions please just write a note in your child’s homework diary!

Thank you
