On Friday 20th March, 2020, the government took the unprecedented decision to close schools to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). As such, we have put measures in place to ensure that teaching and learning can continue.
Pupils will now be making use of ‘Show My Homework’ and Glow in order to receive and complete English work for their teacher.
We appreciate that parents will wish to support their children in the completion of this work, so we have a dedicated ‘Family Learning’ section of this blog with a host of helpful resources and materials that you can use within your own homes. Including:
- Ideas to help develop reading skills
- Book Suggestions
- Help with literacy basics for writing, along with technical terms
- Our Core Writing Checklist to support pupils’ writing at home
- Our fantastic Literacy ‘Take Away Menus’ with fun and varied activities that you can do together at home.
- Our staff blogs, where individual staff members provide access to resources and materials for each of their classes.
Pupils in S1 and S2 will also be making use of our online learning platform, Literacy Planet. For anyone struggling to make use of the software, an instruction booklet is available here.
Some other great resources available to pupils include FREE access to a number of audio books from Audible, as well as a huge range of FREE downloadable content from Twinkl when you use the offer code CVDTWINKLHELPS
Online platform, Studyladder, is also supporting learners by offering free signup for parents with the ability to add and manage activities for their children.
