Grow it-plant it-eat it

The Comets class have been successful learners and confident individuals when planting, growing and eating different vegetables. The children were responsible for looking after our carrots, radishes and spring onions by making sure they had lots of sunlight and water.  In addition to this, we kept track of the growth our vegetables by using a ruler. When our vegetables were ready, we prepared them by making sure they were clean. The children  have been developing their skills around chopping and  applied these skills to this task.

We were all very brave and tried all of the vegetables.

IDL-A bed fit for Sleeping Beauty

successful learners * confidential individuals responsible citizens* effective contributors

This week on our journey through The Enchanted Forest we came across the tale of Sleeping Beauty. The children loved listening to the story and afterwards designed a bed that would be fit for Sleeping Beauty.

Sleeping Beauty had to sleep for 100 years- our challenge was to design a bed that would be comfortable for the Princess.

First, we looked through a selection of different materials and decided which ones we thought would be suitable for the bed. The children were able to identify and select materials that were soft, fluffy and warm. We trimmed our materials to size and made sure they fit our beds.  We recognised that a rectangle would be the best shape for our blankets, mattress and pillow. After much deliberation over our materials, we then came up with a plan to construct our beds.

The Princess had a prior engagement and was not available for the bed test. Our classroom crocodile was happy to help us out!

Digital technology- Coding

This week the Comets class have been learning about different types of Digital Technology.

We decided to look into Coding and after finding out about it, we were excited to give it a try. The children had to select a character and then create a set of instructions to move them to different parts of the game. When we gave our characters the wrong instructions we had to think of different ways to get them to go in the right direction.

We were all successful learners  when completing our Coding game and we confident individuals when selecting different types of instructional language and then putting it into the correct order.
